There are two types of people in this world.

1.  Those who are committed and invested in finding every excuse under the sun as to why they can't or could not.

2. Those who will literally move any mountain to do what they want to do or have to do.

Granted that things do not always go as planned and life happens,  each and every one of us will at one point or another encounter challenges, distractions and set backs to their intended plans and actions. The difference between being a type 1 or a type 2 comes down to your attitude. Getting things done is at the very core of being a  GoalGetter and in our Tribe, the attitude is -  yes life happens, yes things do not go as planned but we will do what it takes to get things done.

And here are three things that we know and believe that make us highly prioritise getting things done.

1. Getting things done is how we become

The person you are today is a reflection of what you did or did not do. This one is a bit hard to swallow for people who like to make excuses or blame others for their circumstances but as GoalGetters we take responsibility for ourselves. We acknowledge that we may not be able to change where we were born, who were born to, the places our parents could afford to send us to or raise us in but we will take full responsibility for where we end up. We acknowledge that we will fail and fall but we decide to still get up and get things don to get to where we want to be. The choice to decide our results, our attitude , our words and our actions empower us to choose to get things done and become who we want to be. It may take a while, our paths may be longer and we may fall several time but we choose to get things done to become who we want to be.

2. Getting things done is how we serve

Whether it is in in the workplace, in the organisations we serve or volunteer or in our homes - the GoalGetter understands that Getting Things done is how we serve. In relationships or professional contracts or responsibilities, committing to do what we said we will do or what we have to do is a way of creating value and making life better for those around us. Such commitment makes us reliable, efficient and trusted by others. Even when life happens, we communicate honestly and in good time to others to empower others to make alternative plans or to help us become. Whether it is always meeting your deadlines at work, fulfilling your responsibilities as a volunteer or keeping your word to your spouse or children - at the core of such choices we know and believe that Getting things done is how we serve.

3. Getting things done creates our identity and shapes our confidence

The ability to find alternatives when plan A fails makes the GoalGetter highly creative and able to find better and faster ways to get things done. Consider how radical traveling has become for us because someone committed to create and fine tunes airplanes and electricity. How about the person who started the organization your work for or the products your company sells? If you are tired of being a certain way or falling into a certain stereotype, dare to shatter those stereotypes and do that which they you say you cannot do.  The results we frequently create determine how we will be known. We are what we repeatedly not what we wish to do or hope to achieve some day. The ability to stick with things and find alternatives unto completion is a great source of the GoalGetter's confidence and self esteem because they have proved to themselves and to others that they can actually get things done.

There are things we battle for days, months and years then some day in the middle of ordinary activities it finally hits us. The Goal Getter is a collection of some truths that took me a bit of time to learn but when I did- it made a whole lot of difference.
